2.1.26 Does a helical variable speed gear motor require a running-in period?

Since the tooth flanks of new gear units do not yet have the optimum load-bearing capacity, each gear unit should first run for some time without load and then for approx. 5 hours with approx. 50% of the nominal load. If the operation with a partial load is not possible, the gear unit should be repeatedly switched off when the operating temperature or the permissible lubricant temperature of 80°C is reached. A sufficient running-in period is decisive for the performance and service life!
