Calculate the potential savings from replacing old motors with modern, efficient models. Amortization and annual cost savings at a glance.
Calculate potential savings by replacing old motors
Modern motors have significantly better efficiency classes. The calculator shows you how quickly an investment in a new motor pays off through lower energy costs.
Calculate the energy savings and payback period when replacing an old motor with an energy-efficient motor.
Example Calculation:
The calculator shows the annual energy savings in kWh, the cost savings in € and the payback time in years.
Explanation:
The calculator shows the annual energy savings in kWh, the cost savings in € and the payback time in years.
The calculator shows how much energy and money can be saved by replacing an older asynchronous motor with a more efficient motor - for example when comparing the efficiency classes IE1, IE2, IE3 and IE4. The result is the annual energy savings in kWh, the annual cost savings in euros and the payback period in years.
What is required is the motor power, the operating hours per year, the efficiency of the old and new motor, the electricity price and the investment costs.
An 11 kW motor runs 4000 hours a year. The old motor has an efficiency of 89%, the new one 92%. Electricity price €0.25/kWh, investment €1500.
Consumption old: 11 kW / 0.89 × 4000 h = 49,438 kWh
New consumption: 11 kW / 0.92 × 4000 h = 47,826 kWh
Savings: 1612 kWh per year
Cost savings: 1612 kWh × €0.25 = €403 per year
Amortization: €1500 / €403 = 3.7 years
