Geared motor + handwheel adjustment
The handwheel-controlled helical gearbox is made of an aluminum or cast iron housing and is available in various sizes. The combination of helical gearbox, variable speed drive, and three-phase motor is available with power ratings from 0.25 kW, 0.37 kW, 0.55 kW, 0.75 kW, 1.1 kW, 1.5 kW up to 7.5 kW. The helical gearboxes with speed control are available with the following:
Available output shaft sizes: 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, and 35mm. The geared motor with mechanical speed control is suitable for mounting positions M1, M2, and M4. As with any drive of this type, it is essential to ensure that the speed control is only operated during normal operation.

Examples of use
Variable speed geared motors are widely used, for example in or on shredders, agitators, presses, feed screws, pipe screws, metering screws, grain crushers, belt conveyors, chain conveyors, reflectors, conveyor spirals, belt dryers, feed silos, washing systems, packaging machines, sawmills, in conveyor technology, the food industry and generally in plant and machine construction.
Functioning of the adjustment gear
The variable-ratio gearbox is a planetary gearbox with an adjustable reduction ratio. The motor drives the sun gear. The rotary motion is transmitted to the planet gears. The connection between the stationary and moving outer races transmits the rotary motion to the output shaft. By shifting the ball ring and the cam, the axial position of the moving race and the radial position of the planet gears change. In this way, the roller diameter and the angular velocity of the output shaft change. If the contact point between the planet gears and the outer race shifts towards the center of the planet gears, the output speed decreases and the torque increases.
Be careful when controlling the speed
The speed may only be adjusted when the adjustment mechanism is in operation and not when it is stationary.
Otherwise, the adjustment mechanism will be damaged.
