2.10 What are the general characteristics of flat geared motors?

A flat geared motor/shaft-mounted geared motor is very compact and easy to install. Flange, foot, and hollow shaft versions, or combinations thereof, are available. These flat geared motors are manufactured modularly. The output flange and output shaft can be mounted on a standard version (hollow shaft drive) without modification. Flat geared motors offer new mounting options, including for the drive side. Standard connections such as IEC B14 or B5, or via the shaft drive, are possible. Combinations with other gear types are also available with minimal modifications. When high efficiency and robustness are crucial in an application, worm gears are often no longer suitable. In such cases, flat geared motors are the ideal solution.
