1.1.9 When is a centrifugal switch / starting relay used in a 230V motor?
The centrifugal switch of the AC motor with two capacitors is located on the B-side of the motor and switches off the starting capacitor after the amplified start-up. This technology is used in 2- and 4-pole AC motors. In single-phase motors with low speeds, i.e., from the 6-pole version upwards, this function is performed by a starting relay.
