1.1.3 How is the apparent power "S" of a cast iron three-phase motor calculated?
Here's an example:
A 400 volt three-phase motor has a rated current of 129.9 amperes and a current draw of 129.9 amperes.
What apparent power result from this information?
S = U x I x √3
S = 400V x 129.9A x √3
S = 90kVA
Units of measurement:
Apparent power S = kilovolt-amperes [kVA]
Voltage U = Volt [V]
Current I = Ampere [A]
√3 or 1.73 = without
