A bimetal disc jumps when the factory-set nominal switching temperature (NST) is reached
suddenly from its stable starting position to a stable end position and activates the switching mechanism.
If the temperature falls below the factory-set switch-back temperature (RST), the rear derailleur switches to
its stable starting position.
